Sadness, frustration, shame, anger etc....are the sensations that indicate where there is an issue that needs to be addressed in order to be happier. If you're able to not get caught up in the actual emotion it allows an opportunity to identify the thought, habit, or behavior that causes it in the first place.
Sadness, fear, anger, and all of the various emotions in between are not very comfortable to experience. It can feel permanent, and we typically look for a way to deal with with that discomfort.
Sometimes we distract ourselves,or get a little numbed up with some substance(alcohol, food, tobacco, excessive TV).....and sometimes we blame others, fixate on something .....convinced THAT is the problem. Sometimes we get stuck in the feeling and it can grow into depression or anxiety and become a familiar cycle.
Negative feelings are part of the deal! The more we can roll them and use them as indicators, the more they are an asset for feeling better in life.
